The U+ 09 skate utilizes U foam which was only found in the Pro model prior to 2009. With U Foam technology, you get a truly customized boot once it has been heated and formed to your foot. The U+ skate starts with the players foot and when heated takes the foot's unique shape. The competition uses a preset shape, and forces the players foot into that shape. The construction and strength of the U Foam allows the skate to form to the ankle without any limitations. U Foam is also used in the heel to allow the heel to lock into place once the boot is heated. The Forefoot also incorporates the U Foam to provide a close to the foot fit to provide maximum energy transfer. Once set, U Foam is stronger than any other core construction CCM has ever used providing maximum energy transfer and push off.
