Getting Started

Q: What is the online skate trade-in program?
A: Our skate trade-in program allows you to exchange your gently used skates for a gift certificate that you can use toward new equipment. It's an affordable way to upgrade your gear.
Q: What types of skates do you accept?
A: Skates tongues & eyelets must be intact and not ripped. Blade holder must not be cracked. Blade must have at least ½” left on it and skates must be less that 5 years old
Q: How much is my skate worth?
A: Trade-in values depend on several factors including the skates age, model, condition, and current market demand on the SidelineSwap marketplace. Begin the trade-in process to see what your skates is currently worth.

Payment & Timing

Q: How will I get paid for my skate trade-in?
A: You will receive a skate trade-in gift certificate via email within 24 hours after the successful receipt and inspection of your trade-ins by SidelineSwap.
Q: How long does the skate trade-in process take?
A: Here's the typical timeline:
  • Shipping: 2–5 business days to arrive at our facility
  • Inspection: Within 3 business days of receipt
  • Payment: Within 24 hours of inspection (e-gift card)

Item Conditions & Eligibility

Q: What items can I trade in?
A: We accept skates with resale value on the secondary market that also meet our trade-in condition requirements. All eligible items will display a trade-in value on the trade-in site. Trade-in values are based on current market data from sidelineswap.com and update monthly. Contact us if you believe your skate should qualify but isn't listed.
Q: What if my item doesn't meet trade-in condition requirements?
A: If our experts find that an item is damaged and doesn't meet the trade-in condition requirements, it has no resale value and we cannot accept it. In these cases, we’ll ensure the item is recycled or donated responsibly.
Q: Am I guaranteed to receive the quoted trade-in value?
A: In over 98% of cases, customers receive their quoted value. If there are discrepancies between the item details provided and the item received (e.g., incorrect year, model, drop, certification), we will adjust the value and notify you via email and the trade-in site.

Shipping

Q: Do I need to pay for shipping?
A: Shipping is free for trade-ins valued at $100 or more. For trade-ins under $100, a $10 shipping fee will be deducted from your payment.
Q: How do I ship my trade-ins?
A: We provide a FedEx Ground shipping label for all trade-ins. Print the label after submitting your trade-in. Pack items securely and drop off at any FedEx location.
Q: Where can I get a box for shipping?
A: You can reuse a box from a recent online order, or purchase one at any FedEx Office location.
Q: How quickly do I need to ship my trade-ins?
A: Trade-in values are valid for 30 days. Ship promptly to avoid value changes. Items received after 30 days will be reappraised based on current values.
Q: How should I pack my skates for shipping?
A: Wrap the skate with paper and/or bubble wrap before placing it in the box to prevent damage during shipping.

General

Q: Is there a limit to how many items I can trade in?
A: No limit! You can trade in as many skates as you'd like, as long as they’re listed on the trade-in site and meet the condition requirements.
Q: Can I combine multiple trade-ins in one shipment?
A: Yes, multiple trade-ins can be shipped together using one shipping label. Ensure each item is registered on the trade-in site and pack all items securely.
Q: Do I need the original receipt for the skates I’m trading in?
A: No, the original receipt is not required. However, you must be the rightful owner of the skates.
Q: Who should I contact with questions about my trade-in?

Q: Do you accept trades from customers outside the U.S.?
A: The trade-in program is currently only available to customers within the U.S.
