I picked up the Bauer Elite padded goalie top for extra protection under my chest protector because I was hit with a puck in the collarbone despite having a neck guard that covers a portion of the area, and it’s been a really solid upgrade. The padding is exactly where it needs to be - especially around the ribs and arms - so stingers are way less of an issue now. What I like most is that it doesn’t feel heavy or restrictive. The material breathes well and stays in place, even when it gets sweaty. The fit is loose but comfortable and it layers easily under a pro-level chesty and neck guard without adding unwanted bulk. Mobility hasn’t been affected at all. If anything, I feel more confident playing aggressively because I’m not worried about the odd shot sneaking through. If you’re looking for a padded base layer that gives real protection without sacrificing movement, this one is absolutely worth it.
