CCM uses molded impact protection along with PE inserts to keep the weight down but still offers needed protection. The chest plate is floating with a hard PE inset to protect the sternum. The 4.0 offers an extremely low profile cap with PE protection. An adjustable/removable belly pad along with adjustable bicep protection and neck padding means you can make the pad fit you body. The caps are super low and mobile. The biceps and spine protection is molded and vented. For light weight, low profile shoulder pads, the 4.0 delivers without neglecting protection.
